Cambodia is Likely to Face Floods Until 27 September

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has warned people living in mountainous areas near waterways and along the Thai border to be careful of floods that may be caused by excessive rainfall.

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, 20 September, the Ministry of Water Resources said that such a situation will drag on into the next week until 27 September 2022.

The Ministry said the problem was caused by "High pressure in China, which has pushed the low pressure system (ITCZ) down, stretching down and extending closer to the Dangrek Mountains and the northeastern plateau of Cambodia. At the same time, weak to moderate wind is blowing from the southwest."

Moderate to heavy rainfall mixed with thunder and gusts of wind are expected across the country while temperatures will range between 22 and 34 degrees Celsius.
